Welcome to the Ultimate World Fighting Tournament

Starting all the way back in 2015, Ultimate World Fighting Tournament was a Google+ roleplaying community where anyone was able to join, make their own characters, and participate in original stories, as well as of course a fighting tournament that pitted OCs against each other. After a whole decade, our small community has continued to build upon this world and our characters, and now we are adapting our original stories into a web series!

At its core, the Ultimate World Fighting Tournament is about different fighters with varying powers and goals aiming to become the greatest fighter there is. It is over the top and goofy, but many meaningful stories have come out of it as well. The series satirizes many of the tropes of older roleplaying communities, and to an extent 2010s internet culture.

There will be 16 fighters in the tournament, and we will publish every battle between them. Before that, we will publish profile pages for each character, much like the profile pages you would have seen in these roleplaying communities. You will be able to learn a little bit about each fighter before we are ready for the tournament to begin.

We have been working on a rewrite project for UWFT since 2021, but only now have circumstances and planning aligned to give this project new light that has let us move forward. This is my passion project that I want to devote most of my time to now, so any support or interest would be greatly appreciated. You can support us financially on my Kofi page, or you can join our public discord server to talk about the web series with us or stay up to date on the project and new releases.

This is an amateur project, but we are really passionate about taking this as far as we can go and telling the stories we want to tell. It has been extremely cool to see all the artwork that has been made in preparation for this web series, and I hope to share more of the Ultimate World Fighting Tournament with all of you guys so more people can see what we found so enjoyable and special about it as teenagers.

Lunch Battle - UWFT Prologue

The world had once seemed dull, serene, and grossly peaceful. Sure, there was injustice, there were wars and violence and the usual misfortunes of life, but that was simply the reality that many learned to live with. In this world, Russia had remained Soviet, and the Cold War never truly ended. Fear of death, violence and control were simply something that every person learned to abide with. Mutually assured destruction ensured everyone's safety, nobody wanted to touch the hot stove. There was no true contesting of the way we lived, and this acceptance of one's role in life became peace, ironic as it may be.

Then, in 2015, Father Time himself descended upon our world, and established the Ultimate World Fighting Tournament. The winner of this tournament was said to be granted any wish of their choosing, and so 16 large scale battles with thousands of fighters were held. The winners of each preliminary would advance to the tournament, and would be granted access to hospitality from the buildings surrounding the stadium, which offered shelter, training grounds and a large cafeteria with as much food as one could want.

Inside the cafeteria, a man with spiky black hair and a red gi was sitting at one of the tables eating from a bowl of noodles. As he did, another man was walking towards the cafeteria, fist balled up. His skin was blue, and he was wearing a militial outfit. In a surge of energy, the door busted open, and he walked in, eyeing the area.

“...”

The man in the red gi looked over, clearly confused.

“Uhh, I don't think you're allowed to damage the property…”

The blue, cube headed entity vanished from his position and appeared right next to the martial artist.

“You, human - what is your name?”

He asked.

“Oh, uh, Chile. Who are-”

The blue person put his finger to his mouth to shush him, before speaking himself.

“I am number 87, The Monster King. I have come to win and collect my wish, and you seem to be one of my opponents. Therefore, I shall destroy you!”

87 raised his fist up and launched it at a surprised Chile, who managed to put his two hands up in front of his face to block the attack. He was still, however, forced back over the table, yelping as he landed in a nearby garbage can, which fell over.

“Weak.”

87 said as he cracked his knuckles. He heard a meager laughter coming from behind him, so he turned over to face the source of it, a young man in business attire sitting at a table near them. This individual began to speak.

“Say, you seem pretty tough, but you’re kinda ugly. Not too bright either.”

The one who he had antagonized disappeared from his location and reappeared right in front of him.

“WHAT DID YOU SAY TO ME??? I will end your life now, HUMAN!”

His smug expression did not falter as he stared back at 87.

“My name isn’t human, it’s Jonathon. And you can try, but… I can’t really die, you know.

87 pointed his finger at Jonathon and a ray of blue energy shot out from it, burning a gaping hole through Jonathon’s face and causing his body to fall to the ground.

A few moments after, Jonathon’s body rose up. He adjusted his tie before his face began to morph, regenerating completely.

“... As I was saying, I can’t die. I have a feeling I’m gonna win the tournament, too.”

87 grumbled as he grabbed Jonathon by his shirt.

“Why don’t we find out?”

Then, another voice rang out.

“Good grief… I can see that father picked out a weird crop this time.”

They both looked over to the man in the stylish jacket who was sitting nearby, drinking from his cup of coffee. Jonathon then began to speak.

“Oh hey, what’s up Trillen?”

“How do you know my… Whatever. Anyways, I’d prefer you don’t kill any of our contestants before the tournament actually starts. It’d be very annoying.”

87 dropped Jonathon and looked towards Trillen.

“So, I can’t just beat the other fighters up now? What do I hafta do to get my wish?”

Trillen sighed before explaining.

“There will be 16 competitors in this bracket tournament, and they will each engage in a one on one fight. The winner of said fight will advance to the next round, and will then fight the winner of their own previous fight. This will continue until everyone has been eliminated except for two, who will battle each other, and the winner of that will receive their wish. Pretty simple, I’d say, but I should let you know that this tournament has been held in several different universes, and every tournament for the past millennia has had the same winner, the son of Father Time… Me.”

“What??? Why are you even competing???”

Trillen took another sip as 87 asked his question.

“Because I don’t trust mortals with ultimate power. Now as I was saying, the Ultimate World Fighting Tournament is held by Father Time and the Zodiacs to see if mortals can surpass their universal limitations. The great men in history have been drawn to their positions by destiny, supposedly. All I know is that I haven’t lost yet, and I doubt that is going to change anytime soon.”

87 slammed his hands on the table as he leaned forward.

“Well, if you think I am scared of you, you got another thing comi-”

Just then, a boy with a tail and a blue shirt jumped onto 87’s head then pounced off onto another table.

“I want two plates of steak, three bowls of soup, seven bowls of chicken wings, forty pepperoni pizzas and half a gallon of water!”

The mysterious boy announced. As he commanded, a blue energy surrounded the table he was at, and the food items he wanted had immediately manifested.

“Hey, who the heck are you?”

87 questioned, but the drooling boy wasn’t paying much attention to him as he began to messily devour his food. 87 walked up to him as he satiated his gluttony.

“Hey! You will answer to me when you are spoken to!”

His decree landed on deaf ears as the boy continued stuffing himself with his food, then gulping down water to go along with it. This continued for a few seconds as 87 became very impatient and frustrated.

“Alright, fine. You can tell me from the infirmary!”

87 launched a punch squarely at the boy, which would make contact with him. His blue fist remained on his cheek for a few seconds, until a smirk would appear on his face.

A kick from the boy would push 87 off of him, the humans strength catching him by surprise. As 87 would stammer to stand upright, a pizza would be thrown on his face, and the boy would then speak.

“For your information, my name is Wily Buredo, the Wild Boy! And if you’re going to interrupt my lunch, then you better have the skills to back your talk up!”

He said with a grin. 87 would wipe the pizza slice off of his face, revealing an annoyed expression.

“I’m gonna wreck you, noob.”

87 flew towards Wily and they locked hands with each other. However, the disparity in their strength was quickly apparent, as Wily was slowly forced back, his body bending as he struggled to contain his opponent.

“Uh, woah-”

The Wild Boy muttered, before his tail would wrap itself around 87's leg during the struggle and pull him out from underneath. 87 landed hard on his back with a grunt of surprise, much to the chortling Wily's pleasure. 87's arm would raise up, aiming at Wily as a blue orb manifested from his palm. A large, blue blast would come from it, burning into Wily's body and knocking him away.

Wily spinned in the air, grabbing two of his chicken wings before landing on his feet. He grinned, twirling the wings and beckoning 87 with them.

“Grr…”

87 ran ahead and threw a punch at his opponent, which was side stepped by Wily. Wily retaliated within a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second with a swing of a chicken wing, slamming against his face. 87 yelled in annoyance before trying and failing to hit him again, leading to him being pounced again by a chicken wing, stumbling back.

“Alright… I see how it is.”

He announced. 87 gathered himself, putting his hand over where his chin may be as he closed his eyes in thought.

“Ahem, I am famished. Bring me four thousand shish kebabs this instant, with beef and vegetables.”

And as he said that, four thousand shish kebabs would manifest behind him, floating in mid-air. Wily looked up at the array of food placed upon pointy sticks, directed right at him.

“Woah… So much food… Do you even eat? …Oh, wait… Oh jeez…”

87 threw his hand forward, and so the kebabs launched towards the Wild Boy.

“YAH!”

As the kebabs flew towards Wily, he frantically weaved around them. Jonathon looked at the scene with a grin, sitting next to Trillen as he was drinking his coffee. Then, Jonathon began to speak to Trillen.

“Hey, that looks pretty fun. Wanna join in?”

“Not really.”

“Aw, don't be like that-”

Jonathon lunged forward at Trillen, but as he reached him, a flash of hexagons swirled before his eyes. At that moment, Trillen seemingly swapped positions, appearing on the other side of the table, still sipping his coffee. A mid-air Jonathon frantically waved his arms around before he fell on his face against the ground.

“Ow.”

Meanwhile, Wily was struggling to evade the flying shish kebabs as 87 confidently crossed his arms with his eyes closed.

“Foolish human! Idiot! You've been skewered, and I did it CASUALLY-”

Within an instant, a massive black scorpion claw drew out and clamped over 87, trapping him within the pincher. His eyes opened in surprise as he yelled out:

“-WHAT!”

Wily grinned, then slammed the transformed claw for the ground. He dragged his foe across, left and right, and began to run as 87 was being crushed by the massive claw as well as dragged into the ground. Finally, 87 was tossed away by Wily into the air, however he managed to regain himself and land upon the wall like an insect.

“Don't tell me that's all you got, blockhead!”

Wily taunted. 87 would ignore his words and lob several balls of blue energy towards his opponent. Wily would hold his claw out and absorb the energy before 87 would leap off and smash into the claw with his fist encased within energy, leaving a shockwave through the cafeteria.

Chile would groggily stand up before the chaos in front of him. He looked ahead of him and saw a massive scene unfolding. Jonathon was chasing Trillen around, who was blipping in and out of reality. 87 and Wily's battle was the source of several energy blasts and destroyed tournament property as they clashed with each other in a desperate struggle. This scene had disturbed Chile - despite entering a fighting tournament, he wasn't really a fan of fighting and violence.

His eyes white, he took a step back.

“Stop it…”

A stray energy blast was hurled into Chile's direction. His expression changed to a tense brow.

“ENOUGH!”

Fire swarmed over Chile, and the energy blast evaporated. Jonathon, Trillen, 87 and Wily turned to see the source of the shout, and a massive wave of fire exited his body and engulfed the building. The whole cafeteria was blown apart by the flames, the walls and ceilings burned away, leaving a desolate location out in the open. Chile fell over, unconscious.

Trillen was nowhere to be seen. There was a charred skeleton with roasted meat overlaying it, laying on the ground. Slowly, this corpse began to regrow flesh, revealing itself to be Jonathon as he grotesquely put himself back in place. Strangely, his clothes seemed to regenerate too. He blinked a few times before sitting up and looking back at where the fight was occurring.

Wily had fully transformed his body with a black exoskeleton, the shining casing covering his whole form. Steam had released from his body, but he was otherwise unharmed. Nearby, a red fist had pushed rubble away, as 87 rose from the scattered garbage. He was now glowing a reddish tint, and did not look to be done with his fight.

“You ready?”

The Monster King asked. The Wild Boy responded:

“Yeah.”

“Good.”

Faster than the eye could track, a red fist had been planted on Wily's cheek. Seemingly before the laws of motion could catch up to him, Wily's tail wrapped around 87's torso, causing him to be launched along with him by the force of his own punch.

Wily had one human arm and one clawed arm, and he used both interchangeably to wallop on the captive 87 as they flew together. 87 held both of his arms out to immobilize him, then he tilted his head back and slammed it against Wily's head, the impact ending their flight and cratering the ground, dirt debris flying above them both.

87 was now on top of his foe and had readied a fist amplified with red, glowing energy. As he threw his fist, Wily decided to do something strange. He opened his mouth, and caught the fist encased with energy in his mouth as he bit down on 87's wrist.

“GAH!”

87 attempted to pull his fist out but Wily clenched his teeth tightly around his fist as he literally began to eat the energy coming from it. Soon, Wily let out an expansive wave of energy that pushed 87 a large distance away from him, falling on his ass. Wily stood up with a toothy grin.

“I see that your attacks are all based on using some kinda energy. Too bad for you, I eat energy right up! By all means, keep 'em coming! I'm not full yet!”

Instead of offering a retort, 87 clapped his hands together before bringing back his fist. His fist began to wind and wind, glowing with red energy. Wily simply stood there with a smug expression. Finally, he released his fist - not at Wily, but at the ground beneath him. The impact left a massive wave of dirt and dust directed at Wily, who could do nothing as he was bathed and blinded in the dust. He coughed and closed his eyes, momentarily incapacitated. As he opened his eyes again, he saw 87 right in front of him as he launched his knee directly into his gut, rocketing the Wild Boy into the sky.

“Ugh…”

Wily slowly began to open his eyes, unaware of his surroundings.

“Where am I?”

“Oh, that's right.”

“The moon.”

He wouldn't have much time to appreciate the view of the blue marble from this perspective however, as 87 had made his presence known from above Wily. Now he was flying!

“I WILL DESTROY YOU!”

The Monster King angrily decreed. Wily quickly got up and began running as the flying 87 chased after him, firing red energy blasts at him as they were closely evaded.

Eventually, Wily came across Jonathon, who had somehow made it up to the moon and was lying back on a beach chair, drinking tequila while wearing a pair of sunglasses.

“‘Sup, Wiles?”

An energy blast had been thrown towards Jonathon where an explosion seemed to completely obliterate him.

A red orb of energy was manifested in 87's right hand, which was then shot towards Wily. Using his human arm, Wily caught and absorbed the energy. Then, with his clawed hand, he shot it right back. 87 was tagged and forced back by his own energy, coughing at the force of his attack. He fell down onto the ground near Wily, holding his knee as he sought to stand up. Wily just chuckled.

“Those all the moves you got?”

He asked.

“Nope, I got one more. You better hold onto your butts for this.”

87 responded. He then flew back, and disappeared out of sight. Wily turned his head, confused, until he felt a massive rumbling under his feet.

The red cube head was now punching, yes, punching the moon. Each punch stronger than the last, he built up more and more energy, soon reaching his climax. He threw back his fist, which now emanated red energy as massive as the celestial body itself.

“BEAM FIST!!!!!”

The swirling mass of energy was thrust upon the moon, and time stood still. Then, the moon almost contorted in shape, and was sent flying at absurd velocities out of the Earth's orbit and towards the sun.

87 reverted to his original form as he turned around and crossed his arms while Jonathon’s sunglasses very conveniently floated onto his face.

“HAHAHAHA!!!! I AM THE BEST!!!!”

Then, the explosion expanded and vaporized 87, along with the rest of the solar system.

Only a black void remained where they once were. This would have been the end of the story with the tournament never getting to take place to begin with, but that isn't all that happened. The world began to hue blue, and the events of the battle began to reverse themselves. The sun's destruction, 87 and Wily's fight, the destruction of the cafeteria, all of it was reversed at an accelerated rate. Finally, it reached the beginning, and all was well again.

Our actions don't always have consequences. Some things are simply as they are.
